I guess I’ve only got 2 more of these posts to do before I retire this blog. Today was my birthday and since I am committed to documenting my thirties online for the world to see, I sit in front of a computer in my Air BnB and type this out..
This year has been crazy – just NUTS (so much has happened to me personally). I left my job at the BC Public Service in order to study more modern web practices and work for myself (on contracts) for a while. This turned out to be a very good idea for me. I grew a lot this year. I don’t think that I would have been able to grow if I hadn’t taken the leap of faith and just gone for it. I lived on savings for over three months (which was totally nerve racking) but in the end landed my dream job at Benevity.
In fact, the rest of this post is going to be primarily about my new job because I just “graduated” from their orientation program, Launchpad. My “graduation” happened to be the exact same day as my birthday. I thought that was a really cool thing; a clean break, onto something new.
I wasn’t planning on telling anyone that it was my birthday, but word got out. Pretty soon, delicious macaroons appeared!
I thought it was a super nice gesture – especially since I just started there!
I’ve been in Calgary for a week now, with another one to go. I do miss home but I like the opportunity to grow this year that new employment offers. For me, change is a good thing.
