First Marathon

I ran my first marathon!!!! I spent the last six-eight weeks training. Holy shit, I barley kept it together in the last third of the race. I was so amped up at the start that I pushed way too hard at the start. I hear that this is a common first-marathon mistake. I realized when I was way ahead of my pace and running about a 4’25” pace at km 13! Then around km 37 I really started to feel it and had to walk a kilometre or two.

At least now, I can tone down the early mornings…

After we return from Thailand in December, I’ll going to start a lot more Zone 1 training, using the methods put forward by Steve House in Training for the New Alpinism.
